A conversation with Martin Bierach of B. Braun

In today’s market, moving fast without compromising trust is a strategic imperative. For CIOs operating in complex and regulated industries, the competitive edge lies in how companies can move faster in innovation. In particular, how seamlessly an organization integrates AI-driven Cloud native capabilities across data, applications, and teams at scale.

Cloud Integration is a core part of that strategic posture, decoupling data, logic, and infrastructure to unlock reusable innovation and real-time collaboration between IT and business.

We spoke with Martin Bierach, Director of Data Intelligence and Data Innovation at B. Braun SE, a global MedTech company with whom we collaborated on several projects.

Martin Bierach shared his perspectives on how his team is evolving architecture and skills to enable a data-driven, AI-enabled healthcare future securely and sustainably, in a highly regulated space.

When it comes to Cloud Transformation, what are most companies underestimating right now?

Martin Bierach: “Many see the cloud as infrastructure, not strategy. But its real value comes when it’s used to enable data-centric operating models, decoupling data from logic, apps from infrastructure, and accelerating innovation through modularity and abstraction.”

How do you see the relationship between IT and business teams evolving in the era of AI?

“AI forces alignment. IT and business need shared ownership of data and outcomes. Cloud-native thinking bridges both sides—allowing cross-functional teams to move fast, test ideas, and co-create value grounded in data and real-world impact.”

What skills or mindsets do you think are becoming more valuable in tech teams today?

“Tech teams must think beyond systems toward data products, reusability, and business impact. A mix of deep data literacy, architectural thinking, and entrepreneurial drive turns cloud-native capabilities into sustainable innovation.”

What excites you most about where Cloud solutions are heading?

“Cloud is evolving into a smart orchestration layer, where data, algorithms, and applications are abstracted but seamlessly connected. This unlocks agile, data-driven business models even in regulated and complex sectors like healthcare.”

What does having a technical advantage in Cloud Integration mean for your industry?

“In MedTech, trust and speed are vital. Cloud-native integration lets us scale innovation securely, while keeping services agile. For B. Braun that means to protect and improve the health of people around the world.”
